A csillag fényerősségére az elfor-gás nagyságából lehet következtetni. Az asztrospektroszkop az égitestek spektrumá-nak, színképének tanulmányo-zására szolgál. Főrésze az aprizma vagy prizmarendszer,mely az égitestről jövő fénytelemi részeire bontja s így aszínképet létesíti. Különösenkétféle spektroszkóp használa-tos; az objektivprizma és azokulár spektroszkóp. Az előb-binél a fényt szétbontó prizmacsillagászati távcső objektívlencséje elé van alkalmazv
