English: EKCO All Electric radio type S.W. 86; table model valve radio, c1935 large oblong electric radio with rounded edges on top and body of black bakelite, cream textile speaker covers with silver ring overtop attached to plastic with two silver bars, tuner on right, the upper half is covered in yellowed plastic with frequencies shown in black, green and red. There is a large black dial in the centre with handle, three smaller dials are below this in black with silver plate in the middle. The radio has a brown fabric covered cord with brown plastic plug, a smaller black wire is attached to a socket reading "M" by a red plastic plug the front is marked EKCO backing board reads- ECHO - TYPE S.W. 86 SUPERHET - for SHORT and MEDIUM WAVES - for A.C. MAINS - 100-250 VOLTS 40-100 CYCLES - E.K. COLE LTD - EKCO WORKS - SOUTHEND-ON-SEA, ENGLAND - SERIAL NO. 81368 |
