556 RADIO-THERAPEUTICS Description of Types of Cases met with in MilitaryPractice, with Special Points in Technique During an experience of radiographic and therapeutic work at a basemilitary hospital, extending over three years, a great deal of work hasbeen carried out. In the early days of the war these cases were notnumerous, consisting as they did of conditions met with in patients whohad been called up for military service. They necessarily approximatedto the run of case met with in civil practice, and consequently called for nospecial attention. As the war progressed and the men were submitted toperiods of great strain and anxiety, types began to alter somewhat, thoughthey could still be recognised as belonging to well-known groups of disease.Thus, hyperthyroidism began to receive recognition. Soldiers heart, inso far as it was associated with hyperthyroidism and enlargement of thethyroid gland, began to attract notice and to receive radiation treatment.Lymphadenomatous enlargem
