it of a divide ten milesfrom Creston, the evening before, I hadcasually noticed two flat cars loadedwith wood standing on the house track. Well, I started the train from the sta-tion, shutting oflf as we left the yard, and pitched down the grade ahead, per-mitting gravity to propel us some twomiles. A light throttle then took us tothe foot of Creston hill, where the finalchapter began. Stopping at the water tank the nextmove was to get our prospective supplyof wood which my optical research failedto locate, and my consternation may beimagined when it was learned that thecars with the much needed fuel had beenpicked up by a passing train during thenight. The last prop being gone noth-ing was left but for us to husband ourresources so far as conditions wouldpermit, and if it was found impossibleto make Creston, cut loose and run forcoal, though this I did not propose to doif by hook or crook it could be
