It isimpossible to get straight up the chimney, as the wayis blocked by an overhanging slab, and escape mustbe effected either by the right-hand wall near thetop, where handhold is miserably inadequate, or bythe corner, forty feet up the chimney. The passageof the corner is a matter of stride and balance, asthere is no positive hold for the hands.
