y a deer hunt, broke upon theears of our boys, each one watching witheager eyes for the game to come theirway. That day however the buck fell to Fredand Jim, the men who put out the dogs,and by noon a nice spike horn gracefullydecorated our camp. The boys who tookin the deer were soon out again and be-fore long another deer was going withXixie and Grip in full cry. They circledtowards Alberts clearing and swingingback brought the antlered monarch tothe cross roads at Clear Pond whereHerb. Empey was stationed. Herb, pro-ved equal to the occasion, and with un-erring aim brought the buck low. Theresult of the days sport put us all in highspirits and being tired with our exertionsour brush couches were sought at anearly hour. A little later than the previous morningwe were afoot and soon on our runways.All day the dogs ran deer but none cameour way, though another party shot a finedoe ahead of our dogs and refused to giveit up.
