Title
Roman brooch; penannular brooch
Description
English: Roman brooch; cast copper alloy penannular brooch of Roman date, although specific dating beyond that is difficult. The brooch has a circular cross section with expanded, also circular, terminals. Each terminal consists of a slightly thickened section decorated with two transverse grooves, then a small narrow section, then the main terminal in the form of a thicker area with a further two transverse grooves. The decoration runs all the way around the terminals. There is a broad collar of copper alloy wrapped around the brooch, which is the start of the pin, although the remainder is now missing.

Width 42.3mm, depth 29.5mm, thickness 6.1mm, weight 8.09g
