Roman copper alloy zoomorphic brooch
Description
English: A copper-alloy zoomorphic plate brooch in the form of a bird, dating to the early Roman period. The bird is seen sitting or gliding with wings to the side and slightly outstretched. The neck is squat and the head is small, crudely decorated with an incised circle on either side to represent the eyes. The body and wings are decorated with curved cells containing red enamel. Two lugs for a hinged pin is located beneath the tail.
