Roman copper alloy zoomorphic plate brooch hare
Description
English: A copper alloy Roman zoomorphic Plate Brooch in the form of a hare dating to the 2nd Century. The measurements are as follows length 24.10mm, width 15.80mm, thickness 5.20mm and weight 2.38mm. The Hare has a total of three enamel cells. The first cell is incomplete and the hares head, ear and front leg are missing. Two cells are trapezoidal in form. The third is comma shaped and forms the animals rear but the rear leg is missing. On the reverse side the semi circular lug is present which has iron staining surrounding it, but the catch-plate is missing.
