Title
Roman earring
Description
English: Roman copper alloy ear ring of Allason Jones type 1. The ear ring is roughly circular in plan and circular in cross section. It tapers to pointed terminals which overlap slightly. One termiansl is split slightly and this, along with joins running around the ring, indicate it is made of rolled copper alloy sheet. It is 20.8mm by 19.7mm and 2.9mm thick (excluding the operlapping terminals); it weighs 2.05 grams.

Allison Jones (1989) suggests this is the most common type and continues in use through the Roman period, AD 43-410.
