Title
Roman enameled zoomorphic duck brooch
Description
English: Cast three-dimensional Roman zoomorphic Brooch, representing a swimming duck. The body is modelled as a concavo-convex tear-drop shape. The remains of a pin attachment and catch-plate remain on the reverse, attached at either end with the hollow of the body behind them. The outer display face is divided into 18 compartments extending from neck to tail (four for each wing, two for the back, eight for the rump), several of which retain traces of blue and yellow enamel. A finely modelled head and neck are cast solid but slightly corroded, with enamel dots defining the eyes. The object is in good condition, is 34mm long, 18mm wide, 15mm thick and weighs 6.86g.
