Title
Roman samian vessel sherd, outside surface.
Description
English: Decorated body sherd of Central Gualish Roman Samian ware pottery. The fragment has a curved profile and is likely to be a bowl form, probably a Dragendorff 37 form. The decoration includes the common ovolo edge decoration at the top of the piece. Below this is a human form on the right and a panther on the left with a bird in a festoon (possibly a peacock) below. The decoration is divided into panels. The piece measures 59.52mm in length, 68.69mm in width and 6.2mm in thickness. It weighs 31.05g.
