Title
Roman tegulae
Description
English: Three fragments of Roman roof tile. Each of the three pieces represents the flanged outer edge of a tegula with its characteristic L-shaped profile. The fabric in each is mid-orange in colour and has occasional very large stone inclusions. Two of the tiles are of similar profile in that the flange has a vertical inner edge. On the other tile this edge is convex, suggesting two periods of roofing or that the tiles are from different buildings. The largest tile measures 95.4mm long by 73.6mm wide and 49.4mm high. The weight of the assemblage is 766g.
