Title
Roman vessel: Samian ware bowl
Description
English: A base sherd from a Roman terra sigillata (or Samian) vessel, probably a small bowl or dish originating from central Gaul. Internally, a worn potter's stamp appears to read (? V) I T I. M, and may possibly be the potter AVITVS who was working in the central Gaul region between AD 100-125. The fabric is very hard and fine with a pinkish core and orange-brown slip.
