Title
Roman zoomorphic brooch
Description
English: Roman copper alloy zoomorphic brooch representing a hare. The hare, pointing right, is missing its ear, its tail and part of both legs. Starting from the right, the first visible feature is the eye, formed by a dot-in-ring motif, which fills most of the head. The body contains three complete empty enamel cells; the first two are trapezoidal in form while the third one is comma shaped. On the flat reverse side, both the semi circular lug and the catch plate are present, the former retaining the corroded traces of an iron pin. It is 28mm long, 10mm wide, and 6mm thick and weighs 1.57g.
