Transcript InfoField | St. Peter's, Rome. St. Peter's stands on the right bank of the Tiber, and covers the reputed burial-place of its apostolic namesake. Ten or more millions of money were spent on it, and Michael Angelo was its chief arch-tect. Its form is a Latin cross; its height is 458 feet. Inside it is perhaps the grandest building in the world; the poor site spoils the outside effect of the dome. |
