Description
English: Royal Air Force- 2nd Tactical Air Force, 1943-1945.
The remains of a Messerschmitt Me 262 of 2./KG 5*, shot down over B86/Helmond, Holland, the previous day by a 40mm Bofors gun crew of No. 2875 (Anti-Aircraft) Squadron, RAF Regiment, are inspected by RAF and Army technical officers. *Me 262 A-1a/A-2a, Werk-Nr. 170 122 (c/n 170 122), coded "9K + KL". The Luftwaffe unit is 3./KG 51 (3rd squadron of 51st bomberwing (Kampfgeschwader 51)), Pilot Hauptmann/colonel Rudolf Roesch died, 28 Nov 1944.[1]
Deutsch: Messerschmitt Me 262 A-1a/A-2a, Werk-Nr. 170 122, (9K + KL, gelbes K), 3./KG 51 (3. Staffel/Kampfgeschwader 51); Abschuss durch Flak über Holland (Siehe englischer Textabschnitt) am 28. Nov. 1944; Flugzeugführer Hauptmann Rudolf Roesch gefallen.[1] Einsatzfliegerhorste der I./KG 51 waren ab 5. Sept. 1944: Rheine / Hörstel / Hopsten. Am 20. März 1945 wurde für nur 10 Tage auf den Flugplatz Giebelstadt (südlich Würzburg) verlegt. Danach folgte der Standort Leipheim vom 30.03. bis 20.04.1945, sowie Memmingen und München-Riem. Am 30.04.1945 wurde von Riem nach Prag-Rusin (Ruzyně) verlegt (nur 2./KG 51). Am 06.05.1945 velegte die 2./KG 51 letztmalig nach Saaz (Žatec), und wurde dort vermutlich bis zum 8. Mai 1945 aufgelöst. Parallel dazu befand sich der Geschwaderstab des KG 51 vom 20.03. bis 30.03.1945 in Giebelstadt. Am 24.04.1945 erfolgte dessen Auflösung in München-Riem, wobei die wenigen noch einsatzfähigen Me 262 des Stabsschwarms an den dort liegenden JV 44 (Jagdverband 44) abgegeben wurden.[1]
