Title
SF-BD923C
Description
English: A complete flint Mesolithic tranchet axe. It is sub-trapezoidal in shape; long and narrow, but becoming slightly wider blade end. It is roughly lozenge-shaped in cross-section with a raised central ridge running longitundinally across both faces. Both faces have been reshaped using invasive, scaled retouch with small patches of cortex remaining in places. There appear to be attempts at transverse 'tranchet' flake removal on both faces of the cutting edge. The surface is covered with thick orange stained cortex. The darker flint beneath is partially visible on one face.

Length: 155.60mm, width: 54.06mm, thickness: 32.20mm, weight: 289.58g
