Description |
English: A copper alloy Post Medieval square coin weight dating from AD 1612 - 1619. It is a weight for a rose ryal of James I issued after AD 1612 with a value of thirty three shillings. The weight is square and flat, with champfered sides. The smaller face is marked with a crown over XXXIII / S with a smaller royal cipher of a crown over I (for James). The larger face shows the shield of British Arms on a rose. See page 40 of Withers (1995) Lions, Ships and Angels.
