Bowie, District Forecas-ter, U. S. Weather Bureau, who spoke onHumidity in Relation to Fire Hazard. The relation of humidity to fire hazard,Major Bowie pointed out, is exceedinglyclose. Humidity is the amount of water-vapor in the air. When expressed in the num-ber of grains of moisture per cubic foot ofair, it is called absolute humidity. Whenexpressed in the form of a percentage, asthe ratio of the actual quantity of moisturein the air to the quantity that would saturateit under its actual conditions as to pressureand temperature, it is called relativehumidity.
