Description
English: Seascape

A sketch of a seascape with the silhouette of a three-masted sailing ship on the horizon. The artist has captured a fleeting impression of the scene by showing a dramatic sky contrasting with a calm sea in the foreground. The sky is tinged yellow at the horizon and looming above is a solid dark mass of cloud with several showers of rain falling on the left. Lighter clouds in white, yellow and cream are sketched with fleeting strokes of the brush. The effect has been enhanced by the artist leaving the colour of the grey paper to show.
