. A popular market sort. Vine vigorous, large i^lXie growing and hardy, ripening its fruits earlier than most of the large sorts; fruit medium sized to large, about one-third longer than thick. Color of skin dark green, striped with a lighter shade; rind thin but tough; flesh bright scarlet, ripens closely to the rind and is of the best quality. This variety is very highly esteemed, especially throughout the south.
