English: Shawl, knitted, cream silk and wool, hand made (eth); Brought to New Zealand by donor's great grandmother, Mrs Elizabeth Hutchinson in 1852 on the ship "Cashmere". She was accompanied by her daughter and son-in-law, Rev. Thomas Hamer, who was the first minister of the Congregational Church in NZ. Mrs Hutchinson's grave is in Symonds St. cemetery (col)

Notes handknitted shawl- cream shill and wool, circa 1850 "Brought to New Zealand by donor's great grandmother, Mrs Elizabeth Hutchinson in 1852 on the ship "Cashmere"." She was accompanied by her daughter and son-in-law, Rev. Thomas Hamer, who was the first minister of the Congregational Church in NZ. Mrs Hutchinson's grave is in Symonds St. Cemetery Note- In fact Mrs Hutchinson and the Hamers are listed as passengers on the 1851 voyage to New Zealand of the "Cashmere", sailing from Gravesend (16 Jun 1851) to Auckland (19 Oct 1851), under Captain George Pearson. The Hamers were accompanied by Miss Hamer and two children.
