Title |
sherd (exterior) |
||
Description |
English: Pottery body sherd made of gabbroic clay that weathers over the gabbro outcrop on the Lizard in Cornwall. The exterior and interior of the sherd have eroded away to leave a small fragment with only some of the exterior surviving. The fabric has large inclusions of pale felspars and is orangey-brown throughout. This type of fabric is seen in Grooved Ware vessels, dating from c.2900-2400 BC (Henrietta Quinnell, forthcoming). |
