Description
English: Soldier's grave, Western Front, during World War I. This photograph appears to show the corner of a burial ground. A number of graves are shown of men from various regiments but the focus is on the grave of Sergeant R Simpkins of the 2nd West Yorkshire Regiment. The wreath had been put there by his brother, Sergeant A Simpkins.

The wreath, which is shield-shaped and appears to have been made of metal, has a very late-Victorian feel. The central boss appears to have flowers painted on it and the surround seems to be made of wire 'leaves'.
