Spectators at the Hopi Indian village of Mishongnovi for the Snake Dance, Arizona, ca.1900-1901
Photograph of a group of about twelve spectators at the Hopi Indian village of Mishongnovi (Mashonguavi), Arizona, for the races taking place on the last day of the Snake Dance Ceremony, ca.1900. They all sit or stand upon rocks on a steep slope. Behind and beside them are the stone or adobe dwellings of the village.
