The pro-prietors of the exhibition refused, and the emi-nent medical men declared it would not be safeto move the figures. They shook their headsand said they would not answer for the conse-quences. And when the relatives said, Butwhat business is it of yours ? they continuedto shake their heads, and replied, Oh, butyou should nt talk like that ! The relatives were furious. Off they rushedto the lawyers, who took down hundreds of celebrities. And everybody who read thesebills rushed off to the exhibition and paidshillings at the doors. And at all the railwaystations and all the ports, regiments of detec-tives were on the watch, so that the celebritiesshould not escape from the kingdom either byland or by water.
