IN A FLASH BOTH WRENLETS WERE WIDE AWAKE AND ON THE TIPTOE OF EXPECTANCY not resist hurrying headlong to the nest. Sev-eral times, from my rabbits hole in thebushes, I saw a song-sparrow stop on swayinglimb and sing a song somewhat resembling thatof the wren, but the children in the woodenhome knew not the song, and, true to theirparents teachings, remained quiet while thedoughty father darted out and drove the in-truder from the premises. On July 23 I wrote in my note-book : Thismorning I was surprised to see two little brownheads as I gazed through my field-glass at theround nest-hole.
