d simplified. Days of sunlight whenthe hills and opens seemed to throb and pulsate,and only the shadowed valleys and the point werecool. Sometimes he saw huge cloud-shadowssliding over his picture, and could almost feelthem when they enveloped his tree. Now andthen it stormed. Dark clouds would hurry upfrom the horizon, and soon there would come aveil of rain like a heavy gray cloud, pressingdown the tree-tops and ruffling the peacefulriver as it approached. There were outcroppingrocks close at hand which made capital shelters,so the rain bothered him not one whit. Mostly, though, there was the sun. It is nt at all strange that the bigness andsweetness of this bit of Gods out-of-doorsshould have impressed itself so deeply on hisboyish mind that it influenced his grown-up lifeeven to his innermost thoughts, and his days werethe happier and his deeds the bigger and betterbecause he had known this influence. Sometimes I think it were good if every boymight learn the path to a Point Rock.
