Title
Stone cannon ball, close up
Description
English: While this object was initially described as a cannon ball there is no doubt that it is in fact a fossil sponge and dates from the Cretaceous period. These objects are flint and not uncommon in chalk areas of the country. The slightly irregular, spherical shape and the small scar are typical features. Any future finds should not be recorded.
