Description
English:

Horizontal, black and white photograph showing a street crew backfilling after laying new underground utilities on Sarah Avenue near Washington Boulevard. A mound of dirt sits in the foreground, covering the sidewalk. Behind the pile, five workers are shoveling dirt. Additional sections of pipe are laid out along the curb. Wagons and pedestrians can be seen in the background. Shops along the left side of the image advertise coffee and plumbing services.

A handwritten note on the back of the print, possibly from the School Sisters of Notre Dame, reads: "Washington and Sarah / about 1914-1915."
