Conrad Beissel had beeninitiated into a Rosicrucian chapter at Heidelberg,and having thereby lost employment he, with severalbrother pilgrims, crossed the ocean in 1720 to joinKelpius in his tabernacle. They found the taber-nacle deserted, Kelpius dead, and his followersscattered and, alas, nearly all married. Seetig andMatthai and Witt remained.
