English: Covers area bounded by Q St. S.W./S.E., Anacostia River, S St. S.W., and Potomac River. Shows block outlines and numbers, street center-lines, base points, and dimensions. Does not show lots or land ownership. Title devised by cataloger. In pencil on paper slip affixed to cloth backing: Map found in an old closet in 1859 at Mt. Vernon exhibiting a portion of the city of Washington D.C. & supposed to be a part of the plat made by Geo. Washington. Pen-and-ink, watercolors, and lead pencil. Originally drawn on 5 sheets.
