March 8, 1884. Thereport of the superintendent of the Sunday school of Swedes(Christ) Church, Upper Merion, Pennsylvania, in which shewas a teacher, has this notice of her death : Regard for theliving and respect for the dead alike demand that we shouldpay tribute to the memory of one of our most efficient teach-ers. Miss Hannah Hughes. Her place in the Sunday schoolcan with difficulty be supplied; her long experience as ateacher peculiarly qualified her for the position she so accept-ably filled. Her eminent virtues and her elevated characteras a Christian were suspassed by none. Her remains lie inthe sacred ground which surrounds this edifice, along withthose of her forefathers, there to await the blessedness whichcomes with the first resurrection. Of her we say in truth, None knew her but to love her, none named her but topraise. Catharine Dewees Hughes, married April 19, 1877, Ed-mund M. Evans, son of Da\id and Lavinia Evans, by Rev.J. P. Tustin. William Corson Hughes, unmarried.
