Inside the Village of Ait bit Haddit, at Dads. we had arranged to meet again later in the after-noon, and walk about in the gardens which linethe river-banks. Meanwhile, I think some description ought to be THE INHABITANTS. 159 given as to the appearance of the men I found my-self among and their womenkind. Certainly of all the tribes and peoples that 1 havecome across in Morocco, those of Dads far exceedthe rest in good looks and handsome build. As arule, all the men are well above averag;e heioiit, grace-fully and strongly formed, withal possessing an ap-pearance of athletes. In colour they are fair, theeyes sometimes blue, but generally dark, while theeyelashes and eyebrows are black. The nose, con-trary to the general Berber type, is aquiline, and themouth finely cut and well shaped. Although theyfollow the rule of shaving the head, they do not,like the Arabs, allow the beard and moustache togrow, but entirely shave off the latter, and leaveonly a small pointed beard on the extrem
