Notes cap tally, HMNZS Philomel HMNZS Philomel is the Royal New Zealand Navy base at Devonport, Auckland. It is also the name of a naval vessel HMS Philomel, launched in 1890 and transferred to the New Zealand Government circa 1913. It saw service in WW1 as a transport and patrol vessel, and in WW2 was used as a training base and was finally sold out of service after then war.
