English: Rectangular, snuff box type container, lid featuring polychrome enamel decoration of doubles tennis game. Two couples play on green grass court. Male, with back to viewer, has fallen mid-swing, his cap on the court beneath him. He has dark brown hair, wears white shirt, white pants, brown and white shoes. His female partner, racket raised, wears long pink skirt, light brown blouse, blue cap, brown shoes. Couple on far side of the net, dressed similarly, he in whites, she in long blue and white striped skirt, pink blouse. Shrubbery in background set against pink and blue sky. Reverse inscribed with the initial W. Lid hinged on back panel. Striker on right panel. |
