Description
English: Title: The 1891 Rio Grande Southern Depot, with a new roof, in the town of Ridgway, which was named for Robert Ridgway, the railroad's superintendent. Ridgway, Colorado

Physical description: 1 photograph : digital, tiff file, color.

Notes: The town calls itself the "Gateway to the San Juans" (range in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado). Years after it was closed to passenger traffic in 1952, it was purchased by a town resident, moved two blocks, and converted into a private home, complete with a two-car garage. Remote Ridgway declined alarmingly in the 1980s after plans were afoot to flood the little town to make a reservoir; several building owners abandoned their buildings or allowed them to deteriorate. When the reservoir plans evaporated, the town began a period of slow growth and gentrification.; Purchase; Carol M.
