English: : On September 25, 2018, the U.S. Government and CDC launched The AMR Challenge, a yearlong effort to accelerate the fight against antimicrobial resistance (AMR) with action across governments and industries. The event gathered more than 300 attendees from nearly 200 influential organizations and drew in a significant number of virtual guests via livestream, plus social media and media attention. Speakers at the event were: HHS Secretary Alex Azar, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the Indian Council of Medical Research Balram Bhargava, and Co-Founder of Bugworks Research Inc. Anand Anandkumar. The event was moderated by Madlen Davies, a journalist of the Bureau of Investigative Journalism.
