, and one box can be placed on topof the other and each one can be opened without disturbingthe other, thus forming a set of shelves with lids or doors. The bottles can be set in and small sacks or excelsior placedbetween them. A Handy Folding Table can be made by taking fourpieces 2 inches square and of sufficient length for the heightdesired; put a bolt through the center of each two pieces,as if to form a buck saw. Then get two boards 4 or 6inches wide and as long as it is desired to have the table, andbolt the end of one on to the top end of one of the twopieces already bolted together; then bolt the other end on tothe top end of one of the other two, and fasten the otherboard to the other two in the same way. Take two strapsand fasten across the top to prevent them spreading fartherthan you wish for the height of the table. Strips of flooringfastened together with battens will make a handy top whichcan be set away and the legs folded together when not in use. J. W. Penderga&t.

The artist who is only a clever technician can have littlemore to say to any thoughtful or poetic student than the pho-tographer who devotes his attention wholly to the chemistry ofhis acids and alkalies. Indeed are we not often far more de-lighted by a poor (technically speaking) photograph than by agood piece of imitative painting of a commonplace or vulgarsubject. I hold that to the
