Text Appearing Before Image:
H w in I have seen camp scenes in which enough camp equipmentwas shown to fill forty canoes—with two canoes in the pictureto carry it. This is all right, if you dont go and label thepicture The Evening Camp, indicating the party has justdisembarked from the two canoes and erected ten tents, twoof them with board floors, after a days run, and for a tem-porary stop. And so I might run on for the rest of the book, only theEditor wouldnt like it, and you wouldnt buy it. But, if youthink my stricture severe, let me ask you to take your ownpretentious examples—photographs for the makmg of whichyou prepared for some time, those over which you reallyworked, and examine them carefully, with an eye wholly to the congruities. If you can find none to be prefaced within, you are to be congratulated. If all is not quite as itshould be, remember that you cannot be lonesome m thatcompany—but that the time to reform is when you learn offaults!
