ity of the formulae given for variousdevelopers by the manufacturers might with considerable ad-vantage be used in a more diluted state. I hold no brief for any chemical manufacturer, so what Iwrite is from experience., and with the hope of helping others. There is one disadvantage with Amido), i.e., it will not keep insolution ..more than four or five days, but as it easily dissolves, this is not a great one. Moreover a freshly made developer ofany kind always works better than a stale one. I make up 20ounces at a time, and I have a piece of lead equal to therequired weight of sulphite, and one for the Amidol. Thispaves calculating what weights to put on the scale. Theformulae is as follows, and should be dissolved in the ordernamed. Warm water if you like, but not hot, but in this caseit must be cooled to 65 to 70 deg. F. before use: Sodium Sulphite (Pure crystals) 650 grains Potassium Bromide 10 Amidol 50 Water 20 ounces The above strength will do for plates, bromide and gas Hght 252
