THE INDIANAPOLIS BANQUET from the Mount Greenwood Cemetery Association and the E. G. Hill Com- pany were also particularly fine. A. N. Pierson, Inc., carried off the honors in the class for the Vaughan Seed Store cup, which called for the best collection of pompons and singles. This firm was also first on 10 vases, 10 varieties, pompons; the same for 10 vases of singles. Hartje & Elder, Mount Greenwood Cemetery Associa- tion and the E. G. Hill Company were also contenders in these classes, Hartje & Elder having some very promising seedlings in their exhibit. H. W. Rieman won a certificate and the sweepstake cup for his new white pompon named Peace. A number of vases of fine roses were exhibited, among the novelties being Frances Scott Key from F. R. Pierson Co., Tarrytown, N. Y., and Hoosier Beauty, Ophelia and Lady Alice Stan- ley from the E. G. Hill Co. This firm also put up grand bunches of the standard varieties of roses as well as some particularly fine vases of the leading carnations. The J. D. Thompson Carnation Co. showed their new seedlings. Superb, Hero and Vera, three promising vari- eties. The Chicago Carnation Co. put up a vase of their new variety. Aviator, and one of the Peerless pink. P. J. dinger,' Newcastle, Ind., showed a vase of very promising red seedling. Holton & Hunkle Co., Milwaukee, Wis., exhibited a vase of very fine Mrs. Chas. Russell rose. E. C. Amling Co., Chicago, staged a nice exhibit of cut flowers, including roses, mignonette, lily of the valley, etc. J. A. Peterson & Son, Cincinnati, O.. had a nice exhibit of begonias and other plants. The chrysanthemum plants could not he classed as being large specimens but they were very well grown plants,
