Text Appearing Before Image:
n of .4 gramchlorotone per kilo of body weight. Thechlorotone was injected into the peritonealcavity with a h3^podermic syringe one hourprior to the injection of oxygen into theperitoneal cavity. The anesthetization wascomplete in twenty minutes. Complete anes-thesia lasted for twenty-four hours. Oxygenwas injected into the peritoneal cavitythrough a spinal puncture needle by meansof displacement of water from one bottle toanother. After 100 c.c. of oxygen had beeninjected a radiograph was taken in the pos-tero-anterior position, prone. This showedgood outlines of the abdominal viscera.Radiographs were then made after furtherinjection up to 1,000 c.c, after which time the needle was withdrawn and a study madeof the abdominal viscera in various positionsof the body. (Fig. i.) Twenty-four hours later radiographswere made which showed an apparent dim-inution of oxygen in the peritoneal cavity. However, the information obtained wasequal to that when the largest amount ofoxygen was present.
