r the interrupted ex-posure using the regular discs, when itwould be necessary to allow more than fiveseconds to give an exposure of one and one-fourth seconds. The device consists of a solid brass wheelof the same diameter as the wheels fur-nished with the timer. The periphery of thiswheel is marked in ten equal segments, eachbeing further divided into quarters, and onesubdivided into sixteenths. One notch onlyis provided for breaking the circuit and thisnotch is insulated on all sides. The disc is then placed so thatthe end of the spring on the timer lever armis opposite the number of seconds or frac-tions of seconds desired. The clock-workmechanism is then started. Closure of thedouble pole switch will now start the discrevolving and closing the .r-ray circuit untilthe disc has revolved to the open notch,

The device has been found sufficiently ac-curate for all exposures down to one-fourthsecond. Shorter exposures are inaccurate onaccount of the variation in time of startingthe disc to revolve by closing the timercircuit.
