adherecoal a concrete surface which is just damp enough to be dustless, betterthan a concrete surface which is dusty dry. A wel or decidedly moistsurface is not suitable for pitch and felt waterproofing. If it is necessarjto waterproof a surface which has been under water, the surface shouldbe dried by brooming with sawdust. Cement is sometimes used for thispurpose, but the result is not quite so effective and it is a m>method. It requires front 2.5 to 3 gallons of coal-tar pitch per moppingfor one square, or 18 to 21 gallons per square for six-ply work. The quantity of waterproofing placed on the work described hereinis 1,000,000 square feet. In closing, the writer wishes to call attention to the tn-ed of practicalinspection on waterproofing work.
