Ifyour shaliin bind to the quarry, get in as quick as you can andsecure the cranes wings; ^ cut its throaty rip open its breast, andfeed your hawk. If the slidliln bind to the head of the quarry bat let it go againafter a slight struggle, call her to the lure and quickly feed her upon the warm flesh of a pigeon or of a chicken, and, on the morrow,she will not fail you. If the 6-hdhln approach the crane close, but neither strike itnor stoop at it, act in the same way, i.e., lure her and feed her onwarm flesh; for amongst falconers it is accepted as a fact that, ifAsholun chase the quarry at which she is unhooded, only for thelength of her leash, and be then quickly fed on warm palaiahleflesh, she will, on the morrow, chase the same quarry for doublethat distance.
