In this country thisbranch of the industry is as yet in itsinfancy but, like the different uses ofthe pelts of the Belgian, it is destinedto attain enormous proportions. THE VALUE OF THE PELTS. We have demonstrated that the peltshave uses almost unnumbered. The firstof these is for leather. To the surpriseof all investigators into the qualitiespossessed by the leather made from thepelt of the Belgian hare, it has beenfound to be as tough as buckskin andis adapted to a far greater variety ofuses than the buckskin. A strand thewidth of a shoestring clipped from awell-tanned hide possesses tensile i.irt.
