One housewife of my ac-quaintance has solved this questionvery satisfactorily. She has had ashallow closet built, the thickness ofthe partition, which she has fitted witha series of racks, very similar to thosefound on the backs of church pews,which hold the covers of various sauce-pans. Underneath are hooks on whichthe pans are hung, bottom side out.This, my friend claims, keeps them One or two tables are necessary, andthe size of the same should be in pro-portion to the surroundings. The old-fashioned wooden table is still muchemployed, and, covered with oilcloth,serves its purpose well. It is far better,however, to have a marble or glass-toptable, as these tops can be removed andthoroughly cleaned.
