PLATFORM GEARING NO. 1.Fig. 2 represents the top part of carriage; No. 2 the bent bed li by IJ in center;\ plate on top. Step at each end, as shown in diagram, or finish with scrolL No. 3,iron back stay, or back bar. By making this of iron it gives the carriage a lighterappearance. This iron is turned L shape, and bolted to the body. No. 4, the hornBtrap. The top half of fifth wheel half round iron, with brass scrolls lapped andriveted as shown. Care should be taken and judgment used in proportioning bothwood and iron for the body intended for. GEARING NO. 2Illustrates a light French carriage, with bent furchells, suitable for Victoria phaetons,coupes, and other light carriages, and is superior to many other carriage parts. It canbe used with stiff pole, draw-bar shafts or drop pole. For dimensions we refer youto gearing No. 1—the different parts proportioned to the size of the body intended for.Fig. 1 represents the lower part; the cross lines at A A is where the stiff bar de-tache
